The 9th Annual Hospice 5K/1K Memorial Walk will have additional meaning this year after being re-named for one of Bethesda’s very own Hospice Care employees, Brian Kayman, who sadly died earlier this year from COVID-19. Brian worked for Bethesda Hospice Care for more than 18 years.

The walk is now named The Kayman 5K – Bethesda Hospice Care’s Annual Memorial Walk.

“By renaming this annual memorial event in Brian’s honor, we are not only remembering him for all the dedication and hard work he provided to our organization, but also highlighting why hospice care is important, and educating on what the hospice philosophy truly means,” says Leslie Schaeffer, MSW, LCSW, Support Services Manager and Bereavement & Veterans Coordinator at Bethesda Hospice Care.

The Kayman 5K – Bethesda Hospice Care’s Annual Memorial Walk is September 25 at Queeny Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the start of the walk at 9 a.m. The event includes a 5K option (pavement and gravel with a few hills), or a 1K option (entirely pavement). Other activities include a ribbon-hanging ceremony to honor the memory of your loved ones, tables for Veterans and children’s activities, music, and much more. This event is FREE and open to anyone who has lost a loved one, not just those receiving services by Bethesda Hospice Care.
