Bethesda’s residents and their families are well aware of the first-rate care and services provided inside the resident communities.
Among those first-rate offerings – the kind many don’t think about – are comprehensive resident transportation services, taking our residents across the St. Louis area.
Bethesda provides transportation services for its residents for a wide variety of needs, according to Michelle Glass, Bethesda’s Vice President of Bethesda Home & Community Based Services. Resident transportation rides for medical care are complimentary.
“When residents need transportation to their doctor or from the hospital, we offer that service for free,” Michelle says. “If they have a broken leg and can’t bend it, they don’t have to worry about how they’re going to get back and forth. We’ll take care of that for them.
“In addition, we’ll pick them up from the rehab center when they’re ready to return to wherever they call home,” she says.
Bethesda has a fleet of vehicles dedicated to handling the transportation service needs of its residents and other clients.
“We have everything from sedans to specially equipped minivans, and a 24-passenger van with a lift,” Michelle says. “We also operate seven days a week and on holidays, by request*. We’ll get creative and try to do whatever we can to make the schedule work, whatever their needs are.”
In addition to the resident transportation services, Bethesda can provide an escort, by request*, to ride along with them to make sure they get to and from their appointment safely. If requested, the escort will report the results of the doctor visit or treatment to the family or caregiver after the appointment.
While other senior care organizations offer a basic transportation service for their residents and clients, Michelle says few are as comprehensive as what Bethesda offers to its residents across the greater St. Louis area.
“I don’t think a lot of places are willing to pay their employees to transport residents on Thanksgiving,” Michelle says. “And others may offer similar routine services, but they’re not complimentary.”
If you are a Bethesda resident, or you have a family member who is and you wish to know more about the transportation service, please call (314) 800-1911 for information.
