On April 19, the doors of Bethesda Hawthorne Place, Bethesda’s newest assisted living and memory support community, were finally opened to the general public during its Grand Opening Celebration. The new senior living community is located at 1111 S. Berry Road in the Webster/Kirkwood area.

More than 300 visitors attended the open-house style grand opening event, which included guided tours of the 66,000-square-foot community, music, and plenty of refreshments. Visitors were invited to take a photo with famous monuments superimposed in the background.

Attendees at the Grand Opening of Bethesda Hawthorne Place included Bethesda retirement community residents and professionals from many St. Louis senior living, care, and service organizations who were eager to see what Bethesda Hawthorne Place has to offer.

In addition, a short ceremony featuring remarks from Joe Brinker, Bethesda’s President and CEO; George Clements, Bethesda’s Board Chairman, and Alderman Tom Steuby, an Oakland Missouri Alderman, was followed by a celebration in which a ceremonial ribbon was cut by Daniel Williamson, the first resident to move into the new Bethesda Hawthorne Place community.

Filling the Need

“There is a huge need for assisted living level of care across St. Louis, especially in this area,” said Lisa Reynolds, Executive Director of Bethesda Hawthorne Place. “We’re glad that we were able to help fill that need. The initial response has exceeded our expectations. It shows that people have a lot of faith in what Bethesda has to offer.”

Lea Ann Coates, Residency Counselor at Bethesda Hawthorne Place, said that, as of the Grand Opening, the new assisted living and memory support community is already at more than 60% of its capacity.

“I think the word is out about what a fantastic place this is,” Lea Ann said. “We received a thank you from members of several healthcare organizations who said our team did an incredible job of getting things right.”

A Touch of Home

“We strive to create a home-like environment where activities of daily living take place in the most normalized setting as possible,” Joe said when describing the vision behind the creation of the new assisted living community.

Bethesda Hawthorne Place offers customized senior care for its residents. Our dedicated caregivers make Hawthorne Place a friendly and welcoming community, and we take a personalized approach when it comes to skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s or dementia care. “We believe that quality of life is enriched when time is passed in an atmosphere of meaningful and enjoyable activity and that leisure skills should be maintained by offering a variety of life enrichment activities on a daily basis,” Joe said.
