Healthy at Home
Bethesda’s Healthy at Home program helps seniors recover safely and comfortably after a hospital stay or while managing certain medical conditions. Our skilled nursing and therapy professionals deliver personalized care designed to promote better health outcomes, reduce hospital readmissions, and help individuals remain independent in their homes for as long as possible. The Healthy at Home program also provides our lower-income seniors with durable medical equipment (DME) to help aid in their recovery.
Essential Support for Seniors in Recovery
Our social workers and nurses often assist seniors who are not currently living in a Bethesda community but are recovering from a hospital stay. During these visits, we find they lack crucial basic dignity items such as bed linens, nightclothes, kitchen supplies, and bath towels. To help ensure these individuals remain healthy, safe, and cared for, Bethesda provides these essential items at no cost.
Where Your Support Makes a Difference
There are certain kinds of vital DME and supplies that Medicare and Medicaid do not cover:
- Lift chairs or Hoyer lifts
- Bedside commodes or shower transfer benches
- Walkers, rollators, or canes
- Grab bars, raised toilet seats, washable bed pads, and neck pillows
- Personal hygiene items such as incontinence supplies, soaps, and lotions
- Costly nutritional supplements such as Ensure
Restoring Comfort and Independence at Home
A simple piece of equipment can restore comfort, dignity, and independence. For Wanda, support from Bethesda Home Health and the Bethesda Health Group Foundation made that possible, providing what she needed when she needed it most.
